Reality

It’s not the asthma

Making it impossible

To breathe.

The tightness

In my chest,

The straw

I’m breathing through,

Won’t go away

With the use

Of an inhaler.

The elephant

Sitting on me

Isn’t

Scared of mice or looking for peanuts,

And it certainly doesn’t fly.
