Remember

Remember that time

We lay still

Together,

Naked

And holding each other?

Remember how

The sweat

Clung to our bodies

As the sun shone

Through the window

And onto the floor

Where we were

Entwined?

Remember the way

Our eyes locked

And the world

Slowed down or sped up,

Or did whatever it did,

While our moment

Froze us

Into place

Making time irrelevant?

Remember how

It felt

When our lips touched

The first time,

And how it has felt

Each time since?

Remember how

Our fingers searched

For their mates,

Knotting themselves together,

Unwilling to let go?

Remember how

Each goodbye

Feels like a tiny death,

And each reunion is a rebirth?

Remember how

Each evening brings

Dreams of each other,

And each morning

A bittersweet awakening

Out of those dreams,

With hope for

The next kiss?

Remember those

Whispered words

In the dark,

Skin to skin,

Breathless and excited,

Wanting

The moment to never end?

I remember it all too.
