The tension of restraint

Sometimes

The silence

Says

Much more

Than the words.

When

The air is

Still,

And the space

Between

Crackles

And snaps,

From the tension

Of restraint-

“We shouldn’t.”

The fire

We play

With

Was lit

Before

We touched

The flame

And began

To ask

“Is this wrong?”

We already

Know

We won’t

Judge

Ourselves

For wanting

What

We want

Already…

Already.
